Diaphanous



Diaphanous is variously described as meaning "so thin as to transmit light; sheer; transparent or semi- transparent; or filmy and floating".

I think diaphanous is a beautiful sounding word for a beautiful concept. (The photo is from an unknown source on the web).

  2. Mostly I come across these words while I'm reading - books or on the Internet but this one happened to be on a list of '100 most beautiful words' that I came across recently. I didn't agree with about 90% of them but this would surely be in most people's top 100.
