To eschew means to shun; avoid; stay away from deliberately; stay clear of; to avoid habitually especially on moral or practical ground.

It is generally pronounced e-shu.

  1. Back in the 1960s I read a plaque in my doctor's office, it read, "eschew obfuscation."

He explained that the plaque reminded him to speak plainly to his patients. I liked that.

A good piece of irony here, "Eschew obfuscation. Espouse elucidation." (from Wiki-pedia)

  2. What a great saying - I must remember that.
