Midden


A midden is a a dunghill or refuse heap; this is also an archeological term for a mound or deposit containing shells, animal bones, and other refuse that indicates the site of a human settlement.

  1. I think I read an English (or possibly American) novel once entitled The Midden. Unfortunately I don't remember anything about it other than the title. But ever since then, I've known the word...
