Lonelyhearts



Lonelyhearts columns were at one time personal advice columns in newspapers, supposedly written by a particular ‘Agony Aunt’.

The name derived from ‘Miss Lonelyhearts’, the title of a Nathaniel West novel of 1933 about a man who writes just such a column. In more recent times the term lonelyhearts column tends to be used for listings of men and women seeking companionship or partners.
