"That's a great deal to make one word mean," Alice said in a thoughtful tone. "When I make a word do a lot of work like that," said Humpty Dumpty, "I always pay it extra."

Haiku

A Haiku is a three line poem consisting of seventeen syllables with five in line one, seven in line two and five in line three. Traditionally the Japanese Haiku should be about what you see immediately and should have a seasonal theme. They are a fascinating form to write and should be written down and then left as they were written to capture that immediacy..

  1. Hello there, Sir. I saw so many blog's that you have and couldn't decide where to look first, so I chose this one. Glad I did! I'm inspired by the thought of keeping a journal for the words in question.

This word, "Haiku", I also had never known until I learned from Laura Jayne over at Pictures, Poetry & Prose. Isn't it so exciting...the adventure of learning and discovering?

I probably won't have time to discover all of your blogs today, but for now....I will add myself as a follower to this one. Maybe I'll learn a thing or two here ;o).

    Bless you, Sir.

  2. It is nice to finally realize what the meaning of this word is. I have not taken the time to look it up. I had first heard of it at One Minute Writers blog.
    Am enjoying the lessons here.
By the way, I first learned of your blog from Simply Heather.
